Must Visit Southern Farmers Markets This Fall

Must Visit Southern Farmers Markets This Fall

Posted on Jul 30, 2018

These farmers markets are offering more than just produce all year-round.

There’s nothing better than fresh produce, especially from your local farmers. As the popularity of local farmers markets increases, vendors are beginning to expand their offerings by providing more goods and groceries and are doing so more frequently than just on the weekends.

Whatever you're looking for, the South is lucky enough to have a warmer climate year-round, creating the opportunity to harvest crops longer and share their flavors with local communities.

So, when it comes to choosing the best southern market this fall, where will you stop and shop?

Georgia

From producing pecans and cotton, the Peach State is full of endless farmers markets and produce options state-wide.

Athens Farmers Market (Athens, GA)

Named one of “The South’s Best Farmers’ Markets” by Southern Living, Athens Farmers Market is all about serving up some serious sustainability to its two locations, Bishop Park and Creature Comforts Brewery. This non-profit organization of local farmers and craftspeople celebrate locally grown food and handmade crafts Saturday mornings in Bishop Park and Wednesday afternoons at Creature Comforts.

Snellville Farmer’s Market (Snellville, GA)

Aiming to nourish its community, Snellville Farmer’s Market listens to its residents wants and needs by offering a variety of produce and seafood, along with numerous events and activities. The Green Market (Milledgeville, GA)

Its title says it all. The Green Market is full of greens and beans. Offered every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, you can expect to find a wide variety of flowers, food-producing plants and herbs. Along with its variety of goods, The Green Market is dedicated to supporting local, organic farmers!

Texas

With a year-round mindset, discover these southern comfort markets that are sure to provide you the necessary produce and products this fall.

Main Plaza Farmer’s Market (San Antonio, TX)

Corpus Christi Downtown Farmers Market (Corpus Christi, TX)

Nothing’s better than a farmers market that is also open during the week so you can restock your kitchen. Introducing coffee, food trucks, live music and cooking demos, Corpus Christi is the farmers market to visit every Wednesday.

New Braunfels Farmers Market (New Braunfels, TX)

What’s better than cereal and cartoons on a Saturday morning? New Braunfels Farmers Market. With its fresh pastries and live music every Saturday morning, this market has you and your whole family covered.
